A Smashing Showtel!

April 12, 2010

Showtel 8 was a big smash and splash, with close to 2K in attendance.

And even though skies threatened, meme™ kept the passers-by mesmerized with this year’s blend of visuals and voices (with special fake 3D TV-news reports from Taiwan recounting the exploits of Leno, Conan, Tiger, et alia).

Big thanks to Matthew Benjamin, Kim Cadogan, Mark Conrad, and Julian Senderey; with assistance by Franz Deofils, Steven Lambaise, Alex Robinson, and Amanda Weiner.

Great work, all!
(And watch for new material to be posted soon to iTunes!)

Introducing meme™

April 2, 2009

meme™ mEDIA eXPERImENTAL eNSEMBLE™ —  creates an amalgam of sound and image by mixing digital media with live performance. It is directed by  Joey Bargsten. You can download some of the material created by meme™ at FAU’s iTunesU page.

memePix03meme™ had its first gig, April 11, 2009, at Cinema Paradiso, Ft. Lauderdale, FL at 11:30 pm. The ensemble showcased the talents of students from the FAU Advanced Interactive Multimedia Class, mixing live video, Quicktime clips, and  Flash to a soundtrack that examined current events (human trafficking, Soldja Girl), dream imagery, and glossolalia (speaking in tongues). Videojams by Nina O, Masta Mia, and Frantz DeoFils. Prof. Bargsten got an opportunity to demonstrate his mad iPod Touch skillz on a solo for BeBot, the singing robot, too.
